Visible thread veins are a common problem, but can be upsetting, particularly if they are prominent, such as on the face. They are the result of wayward blood vessels in the body that no longer serve a useful purpose. On the face, these often are visible on the nose, or across the cheeks. They can also often be found on the legs or arms. They are also sometimes referred to as spider veins.
Sclerotherapy
Thread veins are easily treatable, by injecting a solution, called a sclerosant, into the specific veins or vessels, which then shrinks rapidly in size. This is referred to as sclerotherapy.
Depending on the size and extent of the errant blood vessels, you may need several treatments. However, once administered, the results are considerable, and in some cases, the veins disappear altogether. We will be able to tell you approximately how many treatments you will need after your initial consultation.
You may not be eligible for sclerotherapy if you are diabetic, suffer from heart disease requiring surgery, have problems walking, are pregnant, or are taking certain types of contraceptive pill. However, the majority of people are suitable for this non-invasive treatment, and are delighted with the results.
Radiolase/Radiosurgery
Radiolase uses high-frequency energy to make cosmetic enhancing incisions. Healing is rapid and virtually bloodless with little or no bruising or swelling. Suturing is rarely needed.
Cosmetic radiolase surgery patients heal quickly ad start enjoying their results immediately. Radiolase procedures are effective on many types of skin lesions including:
Age spots, moles and raised lesions, skin tags, small red facial veins, warts, sun damaged skin and skin surface irregularities.
Usually one treatment is all you will need but on some occasions, certain veins may take several visits.
